Aviation Medical Examiners

You do not need a 3rd class medical for an introductory flight or to start your flight training, but you do need one before you can fly solo. It is best to get it as soon as you can.

Go to the FAA Med Xpress website FAA MedXpress, enroll on the site, and fill out the form for a 3rd class medical. Make sure you write down your confirmation number.

Choose an Aviation Medical Examiner from the list below, and make an appointment for a 3rd class medical.

All you will need to bring to the medical appointment is your driver’s license or passport for ID, and your MedXpress confirmation number. Most medicals take less than one hour to complete.
